GETTING AROUND IN BOGNOR

Bognor is just a short drive from the A27, which runs along the coast. The A3 also heads north from Portsmouth, ensuring an effortless journey into London. Bognor has its own train station, with trains departing to Chichester every 15 minutes and Brighton and London every 30 minutes. The trip to London Victoria requires a change at Barnham and takes around 1 hour 45 minutes.

A SHORT HISTORY OF BOGNOR

Up until the 18th century, Bognor was a small fishing and smuggling settlement. After this, it was developed into a series of tourist resorts - first by Sir Richard Hotham and later by Billy Butlin. The Butlins Holiday camp has been in the town since 1959 and is one of the area’s biggest employers.

THE BIRDMAN OF BOGNOR

Every year, the town hosts the International Bognor Birdman event, in which participants launch themselves off the end of Bognor pier in homemade flying contraptions. The Bognor Rox Festival also takes place annually, with the free event attracting more than 30,000 visitors.

There are several excellent dining opportunities in Bognor, including the Mezze Turkish Grill, Cardamom Bay and Hotham Park Café. Day to day shopping needs are met by the local Morrisons, Tescos and Coop, while you’ll find many national chains in the pedestrianised High Street and London Road area.
