GETTING AROUND IN CRANLEIGH

Property in Cranleigh benefits from brilliant transport links. Cranleigh sits between the A24 and the A3, allowing for easy access to Guildford and South London but avoiding traffic congestion in the village itself. The closest train stations are Shalford and Ockley, while Guildford is just eight miles away. Trains run from Guildford to Waterloo every eight minutes, and the journey takes approximately 40 minutes.

A SHORT HISTORY OF CRANLEIGH

Cranleigh was a relatively small settlement until the 19th-century development of the Wey and Arun canal, followed by the Horsham-Guildford railway line. This spurred growth, and, in the second half of the century, various schools and a cottage hospital were established in the village. During World War II, nearby Winterfold House was used for Special Ops training, and the area became home to several famous spies, including Violette Szabo.
