GETTING AROUND IN EMSWORTH

Emsworth is located just off the A27, which runs along the coast to Portsmouth and Brighton. The nearby A3 also allows drivers to head north towards London. There are several train stations nearby, including Emsworth, Havant and Nutbourne. The train to London Victoria departs Havant Station every 20 minutes, and the journey takes approximately one hour.

A SHORT HISTORY OF EMSWORTH

Emsworth was founded as a Saxon settlement but remained relatively small until 1239 when it was granted permission to hold a market. By 1332, the town had become one of Hampshire's four custom ports, and its ship, boat, and rope-building industries were renowned along the coast for the quality of their products.

The sea and sailing have always played a key role in Emsworth, which continues to this day. While the town's oyster fleet was once famous across the south, the waters surrounding Emsworth are now home to lots of recreational sailors.
