Situated on the South Coast, between Bognor Regis and Worthing, Rustington is the perfect place to live if you’re looking for a relaxed village feel with all the amenities and facilities you need. With the town’s shingle beach, easy access to the spectacular South Downs and proximity to Brighton, property in Rustington has it all.
Boasting a busy high street and several beautiful listed buildings, Rustington is a charming British seaside village. A great place to enjoy a relaxed coastal walk or to depart from for more serious hiking in the Downs, the town balances easy access to nature with strong transport links. Nearby Brighton is a cool and quirky city that enjoys excellent social, commercial and cultural facilities.
As well as having plenty of green spaces and beaches close by to keep the kids busy, property in Rustington also benefits from excellent local schools. River Beach, Summerlea and St Margaret’s are all highly regarded primary schools, while Angmering High, the Littlehampton Academy and Worthing and Chichester colleges meet the needs of older students.
The A27 is just five miles to the north of the town and runs east to west, connecting Portsmouth and Brighton. The A24 is also nearby and allows for easy travel north towards London. The closest train station to Rustington is in Littlehampton, just two miles to the west. From here, direct trains depart for London Victoria every hour. The journey takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.
Rustington was largely undeveloped for much of recent history, though the town is still home to several traditional flint cottages from the 17th and 18th centuries. Construction began on a US airbase towards the end of WWII but remained incomplete when the war ended.
The local area is served by the Littlehampton Wave, a popular leisure centre with excellent facilities. Rustington FC is the town’s football club and runs several teams that play on weekends during the summer. An annual carnival event is held in the town in August.
Along with a wide variety of independent retailers, Rustington is also home to Tesco and Waitrose. A larger Tesco superstore is also available in Littlehampton. Our favourite local restaurants and pubs include Establo Lounge, which serves up a great brunch and lunch, Monsoon and The Georgi Fin.
