Situated just off the A22, Uckfield enjoys easy road links to towns across the South East. It also benefits from excellent train services, with trains departing for London Bridge every half an hour and journey times of around 1 hour 20 minutes. Nearby Haywards Heath offers direct services to London Victoria every 20 minutes, with the journey taking just 45 minutes.

A SHORT HISTORY OF UCKFIELD

Uckfield originally sprang up around a medieval chapel that stood on Church Street. Today the Holy Cross Church retains many of its original features, including its chancel windows. History buffs can visit numerous National Trust properties close by, including Winston Churchill’s home at Chartwell and the 17th century Bateman’s house, once owned by Rudyard Kipling.

Uckfield boasts a long history, but it's had its fair share of the limelight in more recent decades, too. It was famously the place where Lord Lucan was last seen before he vanished in 1974, and its American-themed Maximum Diner was even featured in a book, Maximum Diner by Christopher Nye. One of Uckfield’s most famous sons is the pop star Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, and since 2002 it’s had its own radio station – the aptly named Uckfield FM.
