A SHORT HISTORY OF WATERLOOVILLE

Waterlooville is thought to have got its name from the victorious soldiers returning from the Battle of Waterloo who stopped at a local pub to celebrate. Many of the soldiers are said to have settled in the area afterwards. With a relatively short history, the town celebrated its 200th anniversary with the Waterlooville 200 Festival in 2015.

Sport plays a significant role in the local community. Havant and Waterlooville FC play in the National League South and enjoy strong local support.
