Just 12 miles east of fun-loving Brighton, West Worthing allows for a gentler pace of life while retaining all the benefits of living close to the city. Its shingle beaches ensure the summer can be spent outside, while the seafront allows for some fantastic walks. A vibrant cafe, bar and restaurant scene means you're never short on dining options either.

WEST WORTHING IS PERFECT FOR FAMILIES

Owning a property in West Worthing is ideally suited to those with children or hoping to start a family in the future. The area is also home to a considerable number of excellent primary and secondary schools. While Goring Primary, Chesswood and Thomas A Beckett offer outstanding education to younger students, Davisons, St Andrew’s and Bohunt are there for the older kids. Local Further Education institutions include Worthing College and Northbrook.

GETTING AROUND IN WEST WORTHING

The A27 runs to the north of the town, connecting Chichester in the west to Brighton in the east. It also provides access to the A23 and A24 - two main arteries heading north to London. Worthing has its own station that sees trains depart to Brighton every 10 minutes. The direct service to London departs every half hour, and the journey takes around 80 minutes.

A SHORT HISTORY OF WEST WORTHING

For much of its history, West Worthing was considered part of Heene. However, in 1864, the West Worthing Investment Company bought a considerable amount of local land with the express purpose of developing it into a coastal resort and residential area. In the 19th and 20th centuries, West Worthing continued to expand as transport links improved and the coast became an increasingly attractive place to live.

Worthing Football Club plays a vital role in the local community and runs teams for children of all ages. Worthing and Splashpoint Leisure Centres are equipped with pools, gym facilities, badminton, basketball, and tennis courts, ensuring they're popular with sporty families. 

SHOPPING AND ENTERTAINMENT IN WEST WORTHING

Worthing enjoys a vibrant and diverse bar and restaurant scene. One of our favourite spots is Manuka's, owned by the Two Door Cinema Club drummer and local resident Ben Thompson. Pitches is another excellent restaurant and is run by the 2018 Masterchef winner, Ken Tutts. For seafood lovers, the Crab Shack is a must-visit, too. For day to day shopping, the local Morrisons, Lidl and Waitrose are all within easy reach.
