What the owner says

I have loved living here over the last 10 years, seeing my children grow up as well as enjoying all the perks of being so close to Dorking Town.

The town itself is lovely and has everything you need with its shops, restaurants and bars as well as the leisure centre, which the children enjoyed using when they were younger. The local schools are also excellent.

The children have all left the nest now so I am looking to downsize and stay in my beloved Dorking! I'm sure the new owners will enjoy living here as much as I have done.

Property details

If you're looking for a property with character and charm then look no further than this terraced cottage set in the heart of Dorking.

As you enter, you'll be welcomed by the inviting hallway and leading onto 2 reception rooms you're spoilt for choice. The separate dining room is perfect for when entertaining as there is plenty of room for a dining table and chairs, although the current owners use this as a handy extra bedroom. With an original fire place housing a log burner the lounge is ideal for getting cosy on those winter evenings gathering together as a family and opening into the kitchen it soon becomes a lovely sociable space. With ample storage and work surfaces the kitchen certainly doesn't disappoint.

Upstairs are 2 good size bedrooms but be sure to make bedroom 1 your own as it leads to your own ensuite bathroom, which has a stunning original fire place and roll top bath, as well as having a large storage room. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the spacious loft room which has plenty of eaves storage and could easily be used as a third bedroom. Along with the ensuite there is also a downstairs wet room meaning morning queues will be a thing of the past!

With a pretty courtyard garden, you can enjoy sitting out in the sun with a nice cold drink soaking it all in.

Situated on a private road there is residents' parking but being so close to the centre of Dorking you will often find yourself strolling in to town for whatever you need.

Steeped in history and literature Dorking was the birthplace of legendary actor Laurence Olivier, who lived in Wathen Road, and was home to Daniel Defoe. The author of Robinson Crusoe was educated at the Rev. James Fisher's boarding school in Pixham Lane. As an old market town it is renowned for its antique shops with West Street being the heart of the local antique trade. There is still a market held in the town every Friday in St. Martins Walk. Contemporary arts on offer include a cinema and theatre and there is also a Leisure Centre to cater for your fitness needs. The local schools offer another attraction to the area for parents, with the 'Ofsted Outstanding' St.Pauls primary and The Ashcombe secondary school, which Ofsted praised for its 'exceptional pastoral care'.
