What the owner says

I bought this house around 9 years ago mainly due to its fantastic location being situated in a sought after village in the Surrey Hills yet within easy access of both Dorking & Guildford.

The view at the rear over the stream when the blossom is out is just lovely and the fact there was an open fire in the lounge was the icing on the cake for me.

It has been a great place to live as the neighbours are friendly and there is a real sense of community within the village. It is in a quiet and peaceful location with Holmbury Hill and The Hurtwood virtually on your doorstep.

I am now looking to move out of the area to be closer to my family and am selling with no chain; I hope the new owner enjoys living here as much as I have.

Property details

This larger than average cottage located in the sought after Surrey Hills with wonderful countryside right on your doorstep could be the ideal home for you!

The lounge is the perfect place to watch TV or relax with a good book in front of a roaring fire when the evenings are chilly. If you like to entertain family and friends there is plenty of space in the dining room for a good size table and chairs and the chef of the house can chat to guests whilst cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Looking for character and charm? Then you will love the period features in the reception rooms with sash windows and wooden floorboards or alternatively relax in the conservatory and take in the views of the garden. Upstairs both bedrooms are double in size with an ensuite bathroom off bedroom one and bedroom two has its own shower and sink. There is also a downstairs cloakroom.

The rear garden is perfect in the warmer months. With a patio area, deck area, small lawn and views over the stream to open countryside it is just the place to enjoy summer BBQs. There is the added bonus of 3 sheds so you'll never be short of outdoor storage for your garden furniture or bicycles.

With Holmbury Hill and The Hurtwood virtually on your doorstep you are ideally situated whether you love walking or cycling. Make the most of your weekends by exploring the area and how better to finish off than popping in to one of the village pubs for a drink and a spot of lunch.

This house has it all so make sure to book your viewing today.

Steeped in history and literature Dorking was the birthplace of legendary actor Laurence Olivier, who lived in Wathen Road, and was home to Daniel Defoe. The author of Robinson Crusoe was educated at the Rev. James Fisher's boarding school in Pixham Lane. As an old market town it is renowned for its antique shops with West Street being the heart of the local antique trade. There is still a market held in the town every Friday in St. Martins Walk. Contemporary arts on offer include a cinema and theatre and there is also a Leisure Centre to cater for your fitness needs. The local schools offer another attraction to the area for parents, with the 'Ofsted Outstanding' St.Pauls primary and The Ashcombe secondary school, which Ofsted praised for its 'exceptional pastoral care'.
