What the owner says

When we first saw the property we knew we were buying our own little part of history. I have done a lot of research from when it was a public house. The former landlords son was in the RAF and I understand the pilots visited regularly and the local football team enjoyed their evenings in front of the roaring fire.

My heart really hasn't been in keeping the property in the way it deserves of late, but we hope whoever buys it can see all its potential, what a great house it is and can be again.

Set in the downs yet close to the local train station, the house also has the advantage of a lot of land.

Property details

Looking for one of those elusive character properties that you can personalise and bring to life its wealth of history, then this former victorian public house could be just what you are looking for.

Walk inside and wonder who may have trod these boards before. The old bar areas are now the lounge and sitting room, but there is much potential for adapting the space to your needs.

Relax in the conservatory overlooking the large gardens, which are ideal if you have horses. There are two stables one of which needs repair.

With four double bedrooms, you can keep a large family happy by all having their own rooms or when friends and family come to stay there is enough room for everyone.

If you are a wine collector then the three cellars are the perfect place to keep your very special vintages.

Set in the south downs, there are plenty of local walks with breath-taking scenery including those along the river Arun. Become immersed in the village atmosphere at one of the pubs or just over the hill, Arundel with its historical castle, lido, galleries and cafe's will keep you entertained.

If you need to commute or travel further afield, the train station is close at hand and something different to occupy friends and family, the Amberley museum is just a stone throw away.
