What the owner says

We bought this house around 18 years ago, mainly because we loved the location. Being in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and being situated between Leith Hill, Redlands Wood and Holmwood Common it was ideal. If you like walking or have a dog it is a great place to live with so much countryside right on your doorstep.

Over the years we have extended the porch and dining room, put in a new boiler, radiators and windows, new bathrooms and kitchen, extended and landscaped the garden, had oak flooring laid downstairs and in 2017 installed a new driveway. South Holmwood has a great sense of community and we will be sorry to leave but as our children have now left home we are looking to downsize.

We are selling with no chain.

Property details

If you’re looking for a home that you can move straight into then this fantastic house in the hamlet of South Holmwood could be for you.

From the minute you pull up onto your own newly laid driveway and walk up to the front door you get a sense of the care and attention the current owners have put into making this a home.

The spacious porch is perfect if you’ve been out for a walk and need to take off muddy boots or dry the dog! You can then settle down in the lounge to cosy up and watch TV, relax with a good book or spend some valuable family time together. If you like to entertain there is plenty of space in the dining room for a good size table and chairs. The kitchen is just the place for the chef of the house to get those recipe books out plus they can chat to guests in the dining room right next door while cooking up a storm. With an additional room downstairs with its own en-suite wet room, there is plenty of space for guests to stay over or you can use this as a study as the current owners do or as a playroom for the children to keep all their toys stored safely out of sight - versatile living at its best!

Upstairs on the first floor, with three good size bedrooms and a family bathroom, this house is ideal for family life.

Outside, the rear garden is the perfect spot for some al-fresco dining with space for your table, chairs and barbeque.

It is a quiet location yet just a minute or two from the A24 which gives easy access to the coast and a short distance from Holmwood Station making it very accessible to get into London.

Steeped in history and literature Dorking was the birthplace of legendary actor Laurence Olivier, who lived in Wathen Road, and was home to Daniel Defoe. The author of Robinson Crusoe was educated at the Rev. James Fisher's boarding school in Pixham Lane. As an old market town it is renowned for its antique shops with West Street being the heart of the local antique trade. There is still a market held in the town every Friday in St. Martins Walk. Contemporary arts on offer include a cinema and theatre and there is also a Leisure Centre to cater for your fitness needs. The local schools offer another attraction to the area for parents, with the 'Ofsted Outstanding' St.Pauls primary and The Ashcombe secondary school, which Ofsted praised for its 'exceptional pastoral care'.
