What the owner says

I purchased this property in the 1980’s in a state of disrepair. Over the last 30 years, I have spared no expense in getting it back to a condition fitting of the property.

My favourite part of the house is the lounge… I love the way the wood panelling opens up into the dining room to create one large area that is perfect for when we’ve had functions or for when the family have been over for Christmas dinner.

After many happy years and memories in the property and in Epping generally, I feel it is the right time to move onto a new venture. I have loved watching my family grow up here and I’m sure the next owner will be as happy here as I have been.

Property details

Believing to date from the Jacobean era, this stunning Grade II Listed property is one of the most famous and recognisable properties in central Epping.

This property has had many notable owners over the years who have made their own additions and alterations to create a truly unique character property. Surrounded by a white picket fence, you enter the property through the westerly door into the reading room which benefits from a cloakroom off of it for convenience. To the rear of the property, there is a study with French doors opening out onto the rear garden.

The main focal point of the property is the lounge which is packed with period features such as an inglenook fireplace and a bow window. The wood panelling that surrounds the room opens to the rear into the formal dining room which is perfect for entertaining. A fitted kitchen which is in-keeping with the character of the property, completes the ground floor.

The first floor boasts three double bedrooms and a family bathroom suite. The master bedroom is particularly spacious and also benefits from en-suite shower facilities. The second floor has two further double bedrooms which are accessed by separate staircases – perfect for accommodating your guests. A further bathroom suite completes the property.

Externally, there are formal gardens to the rear plus a detached garage.

Guides

Our local guide for Epping

Looking for estate agents in Epping? Our local branch of Douglas Allen is on the High Street, near Epping Registry Office and the Parish Church of St John the Baptist Epping.

Epping used to be a historic market town with over 30 inns all within 600 metres of each other. Now it's an up and coming high street, with modern boutiques, local businesses and a wide variety of restaurants and bistros. The south-side of Epping is the most desirable, with properties ranging from bigger houses on Kendal Avenue and Station Road, to one and two bedroom flats in Woodland Grove and Addison Court. The south-side is also in the catchment area for the very popular Ivy Chimneys Primary School. Epping Primary School has a good reputation and brand new secondary school - Epping St John's - was built in 2014.

As well as combining 21st century supermarkets with beautiful village features, Epping also has excellent transportation links. Liverpool Street Station is only 40 minutes on the tube, as Epping is at the end of the Central Line. From the centre of Epping you are no more than a 10 minute drive from either the Harlow junction on the M11, or the Waltham Abbey junction on the M25.

Literally on the edge of Epping Forest, the area is popular with cyclists.

Here in the Epping branch, we are extremely proud of the way we market our clients' properties. We will do whatever we can when marketing and selling your home. To achieve this we employ an all-encompassing strategy, including text messaging, emailing, regional newspaper advertising and mail-outs to our list of 'hot' buyers.
